NRA Foundation Youth Grant Awarded to SCI-SFBA
The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of SCI was awarded a National Rifle Association Foundation Youth Grant for ammunition and other supplies in 2011. This NRA Foundation Grant assisted SCI-SFBA chapter in building and expanding our Cubs Shooting Program for youth 7 to 18. The Cubs have regular monthly scheduled youth shooting activities consisting of shotgun or rifle training. There are also informal youth shotgun competition and training opportunities at various events such as the Annual Bob Bergstrom BBQ. In 2011-12, SCI SFBA has introduced and mentored more than 200 youths 7-18 years of age in safe gun handling, shooting skills and shooting sports, and, especially, ethical hunting. Many of these youths have had no previous exposure to firearms. SCI SFBA and the NRA Foundation are making a positive impact with youths.
